H+A Collaborates on Gym for InnerCity Weightlifting

Founded by trainer Jonathan Feinman, InnerCity Weightlifting is a non-profit that works with Boston youth to strengthen them both physically and academically, giving them alternatives to a gang lifestyle. H+A Senior Associate Aaron Weinert, a former weight lifting client of Jon's, has been assisting ICW with establishing its first permanent home, turning a raw South Boston industrial space into a gym and study center. The gym and other programs are funded by grants and by personal and corporate donations.

The preliminary build-out has been completed, while the interiors are being designed in conjunction with Archventures, a non-profit that raises funds and builds out spaces for other non-profits. Archventures places a high importance on using inexpensive and eco-friendly materials. They also have forged a relationship with the Boston Architectural College, giving students the opportunity to work on real projects, and in this case, youth are helping other youth. Aaron looks forward to seeing the space completed in the coming months, and is honored to have recently been asked to join the Archventures board of directors.
