Meet Our Fall Interior Design Intern
Yaoyao joins us for the Fall semester as our Interior Design intern from the New England School of Art and Design, where she is the current President of the NESAD Interior Design Council. She was born in Beijing, China but grew up mostly in Western Massachusetts. After graduating from Tufts University, she worked in product development in the jewelry industry for five years before ultimately returning to Boston to pursue interior design. She is interested in traditional Chinese architecture philosophies and how that is reinterpreted in contemporary ways. Here at Hacin, she has enjoyed learning about all aspects of interior design project development, especially how elements all come together on site. In her free time, she is in constant pursuit of the next Instagram worthy meal and loves anything miniature. Two miniature artists she’s currently obsessing over are Phillip Nuveen, (@phillipnuveen)who makes miniature reproductions of iconic midcentury furniture pieces and designer handbags (and the bags and boxes they come in) and Jon Almeda (@almedapottery), who throws amazing miniature ceramic pieces on a tiny wheel. Yaoyao’s diverse interests have been a welcome addition to the team this Fall and her expertise in food styling is featured in something we’ve been working on recently. Be sure to follow us on our own social media to see more of Yaoyao and the team and what’s happening in the studio!
