55 India Street is a mixed-use luxury high-rise development located on Boston’s Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway that includes condominium units and commercial space. The high-design building utilizes premium materials and adds improvement to the block, including sidewalks, curbs, and decorative pavement. In concept, the project comprises a masonry volume that is grounded and locked into the historic fabric of the Town Cove subdistrict while presenting a lighter, larger scale, glassier series of faceted facades along the Greenway edges. The project massing respects the surrounding historic street walls and the fine-scaled detailing of the project, including a granite base, cast stone belt coursing, and brick masonry, provides a rich materiality consistent with the human-scaled experience of the tight historic streets. The building respectfully nestles into its historic context, preserving the neighborhood’s character and scale.
